Ancillary Sword takes the BSFA

Leckie_AncillarySword_TPB-300x450And even more award news in this already overloaded weekend as Ann Leckie starts her quest to repeat last years’ achievements by winning the British Science Fiction Award with Ancillary Sword. The award was announced at Dysprosium, this year’s London Eastercon.

I’ll admit, while I would love to see Leckie run the table again, her 2013 debut Ancillary Justice took the Hugo, Nebula, BSFA, Clarke and Locus awards. However I’m not sure I would vote for it in this year’s award cycle, under normal circumstances. I liked the Jeff VanderMeer’s “Southern Reach” trilogy and Robert Jackson Bennett’s City of Stairs better.

But Leckie has one trophy now, nominations for the Nebula, Hugo and Locus, and is long-listed for the Clarke. And with the current Hugo shenanigans, I see Ancillary Sword as a heavy favorite to repeat there as well.
The complete winners of the 2014 BSFA Awards are as follows:

Congratulations to all the winners!
