So, I’ve been doing this blog thing for a year. And I’m celebrating with a monumental amount of stress, depression and writer’s block. Meh.
Seriously though, it has been a wonderful ride so far. I’ve read wonderful books, met wonderful authors and gotten paid to do both! But best of all, I’ve started writing again.
I’m not a nostalgic sort, so I’m not going to recount too much over the past year, but there have been several highlights. If you’ve followed me for any period of time, you’ve probably read several of them: interviewing Scott Lynch in Tucson, meeting a metric ton of authors at Phoenix Comicon and Elevengeddon, eating tacos with Kevin Hearne and Sam Sykes, being interviewed by S.C. Flynn…
But I think probably the most important event was an afterthought. I had pitched an interview with Kim Harrison to the local paper and her publicist mentioned a local author who was releasing a debut novel around the same time. That turned out to be Beth Cato, and my interview with her ultimately introduced me to a wealth of other wonderful writers, from Sam Sykes to Viola Carr. Beth has also been a supporter of my blog along the way and has always had a kind word (and some sort of cookie) whenever I’ve seen her.
Thanks to everyone who has read, commented, shared and offered advice over the past year. Thanks to all the authors who have graciously chatted with me, thanks to Lee Whiteside for all the great work you’ve done to promote sci-fi and fantasy fandom in Phoenix, thanks to the Poisoned Pen and Changing Hands for bringing the writers to the Valley.
But most of all thanks to all you readers. I probably wouldn’t have kept at this if I didn’t know that there were people who cared enough to read.I hope you continue to follow even if I’m currently a little lean on content. Especially since I’ve got a couple huge interviews coming in August, and special guest blogger stopping by in October.
Now I just need to improve the shitty design!
