Tough Traveling — Gnomic Utterances

tough-traveling

tough guideEvery Thursday, Nathan at Fantasy Review Barn leads a group of fellow bloggers on “Tough Travels”, a trip through the tropes that populate the fantasy and sci-fi world, using Diane Wynne Jones’ hilarious The Tough Guide to Fantasyland as a guide.

This week’s subject is “Gnomic Utterances”:

“My, you’re a tall one!”

Yeah, I’ve got no idea. So we’ll just see what we can find in World of Warcraft. Apologies to David Eddings, but…

“Daylight’s burning!”

Tinkmaster Overspark

“Also, if you happen to know a good schematic for radiation elimination, we just so happen to be in the market for one right about now….”

High King Gelbin Mekkatorque

“A properly accelerated gnome in battle is a thing of terrible beauty.”

Toshley

“Yeah, yeah… welcome to my station.”

Linken

“Excuuuuse me, princess!”

Millhouse Manastorm

“Lowly? I don’t care who you are, friend! Nobody refers to the mighty Millhouse Manastorm as lowly! I’m gonna light you up, sweet cheeks!”

Sicco Thermaplugg

“Explosions! MORE explosions! I got to have more explosions!”

“Have a nice day now!”

Yeah, we’ll leave it at that…

Come back next week when we take a look at “Laborers.”

  2. Haha, “My you’re a tall one!”, “Daylight’s burning!” and “SALUTATIONS!” are my favorite gnome sayings in WoW.

I like your version – very funny. I drew a bit of a blank with this one. Sanderson was the first thing to came to mind and then my mind was like a vast tumbleweed moment.
