From Mars to Movie Screen: Andy Weir on The Martian’s Improbable Journey

MartianWith a movie adaptation starring Matt Damon and directed by Ridley Scott coming on Oct. 2, I got the opportunity to interview Andy Weir about his “Robinson Crusoe meets McGuyver on Mars” novel, The Martian.

The book has been one of the hottest titles in sci-fi for the past couple years, but it’s is actually several years older — Weir originally serialized it on his website before self-publishing in 2011. He talks about its genesis and transformation for the big screen in the interview, which appeared in the Arizona Republic today.
